My Gut-Driven Journey to Anxiety Relief

2023 was a year with heartache, and amidst the trials and tribulations, it threw me an unexpected curveball – severe anxiety. Those mornings when I'd drop my kids off at school, feeling like I was navigating a minefield of challenges, are etched in my memory. My body would freeze, oversized sunglasses would become my shield, and eye contact became a distant memory. It was that debilitating.


But in the depths of my anxiety, I recognized the need for change, not just emotionally but also in terms of my overall health. That's when my journey to heal my gut began, and let me tell you, it made a massive difference.


The gut and brain, as it turns out, are in constant communication. It's like they're old friends sharing secrets through a two-way street. Science has shown us that the gut microbiome has a significant influence on brain function, mood, and yes, anxiety levels. The gut is responsible for producing about 90% of serotonin, the feel-good neurotransmitter. An imbalanced gut can lead to imbalanced moods, and an unhealthy gut can trigger chronic inflammation, a known contributor to anxiety and depression.


In my journey of anxiety relief, I was fortunate to work with two amazing ladies who guided me through the challenging journey. But I also realized the importance of taking charge of my own health, particularly in terms of my diet.
